Is CTA West a school?

No. CTA West is not a school or academic institution. We are a private, high-performance basketball club focused on athlete development and exposure at the post-graduate level.

Who is CTA West for?

CTA West is designed for post-graduate athletes who have completed Grade 12.
Generally, we do not accept out-of-town Grade 12 students, as athletes in our program live independently and the structure is not suitable for secondary school students.

What are the program costs?

When do you start recruiting?

Recruiting for the September intake begins in March of the same year.

We receive over 100 applications annually, so we appreciate your patience as our coaching staff carefully reviews every submission.

How many athletes do you accept each year?

CTA West accepts between 18–24 athletes per year to maintain a high-performance training environment and individualized development.

Do you offer financial aid?

CTA West is not an academic institution or a non-profit organization, so traditional financial aid is not available.
Each athlete is responsible for covering their own hard costs.

Coach Huffman is happy to walk families through program expenses during a recruiting call.

Can I use my RESP to pay for program costs?

No. Since CTA West is not an academic institution, it is not eligible for RESP funding.

How long is the program?

The CTA West program runs from September through the end of February.

Question 9

Can I visit CTA West?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Facility tours can be arranged with our coaching staff.
Typically, we concentrate tours around the May long weekend, though exceptions may be made depending on availability.

Can I take classes while attending CTA West?

Accepted Answer

As CTA West is not a school - we do not offer academics.

Each athlete (if they choose) can arrange to take online classes - however, it may affect their post-secondary eligibility.  Our coaches can walk you through this in a recruiting call.
